Overview

Sion, situated in the south is a neighbourhood of Mumbai. The name Sion derived from the Marathi word “Sheev” which means boundary or limit. One of the best historical places in Sion is a hilltop garden which is commonly known as Sion Fort or Sion Killa. Sion shares its name with a railway station “Sion Railway Station” on the Mumbai suburban railway on the Central Railway line. It also has a bus depo in the central line. Sion-Panvel Highway is the major highways which has its connectivity with Navi Mumbai. Sion boast of a robust social infrastructure as it is home to several schools, restaurants, hospitals, and Malls. Dharavi, Dadar, Wadala, Bandra Kurla Complex, Kurla, Chembur East, Sindhi Society, Kalina are its neighbouring localities. It has close proximity to Mumbai which is located at a distance of 8 km via Bengaluru - Mumbai Highway/Mumbai - Pune Highway/Santacruz - Chembur Link Road and Eastern Express Highway. It has proximity to three major highways namely Bandra - Worli Sea Link, Eastern Express Highway, and Eastern Freeway.

Connectivity

Sion is well connected via road and railway networks. The BEST buses and a host of private buses connect the locality to the city.

Sion has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 10 km via Western Express Highway.

Chuna Bhati, Sion, Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Kings Circle, Matunga are its nearby railway stations. However, Sion Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Sion which is located at a distance of 1.9 km via Road No 29.
