Overview

Pimpri Chinchwad is a suburb in Pune City. It is located in the North-West of Pune. It consists of the twins town of Pimpri and Chinchwad which are governed by a common municipal body “ Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation”. This locality has historic Shaniwar Wada Fort and ancient temple like Moraya Gosavi temple. Dehu, Dehu Road, Chakan, Lohegaon, Viman Nagar, Baner, Aundh, Kurali, Talegaon Dabhade, Vadgaon, Paud , Chandkhed, and Pirangut are its neighbouing cities. NH-48 & NH 60 are the two major highway passes through the centre of the locality of Pimpri Chinchwad. Other arterial roads are Aditya Birla Hospital Marg, Chikhali Akurdi Road, Bhosari Road, MIDC Road, and Nigadi Bhosari Road. The twin cities are connected via the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway as well as the Pune-Talegaon-Lonavala line of the Pune Suburban Railway. Some of the notable towns that form the city include Pimpri, Chinchwad, Nigdi, Akurdi, Ravet, Bhosari, Pimple Gurav, Moshi, Punawale, and Sangavi. It is also part of Smart city mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Pimpri Chinchwad is well connected by road, rail and air. Pune - Lonavla suburban local trains run through PCMC area.

Pimpri Chinchwad is well connected by road, rail and air. It also has easy access to the centre of the city via Old Pune-Mumbai Highway. Old Pune - Mumbai Highway has been widened to four lanes, which has improved connectivity to Pune and reduced travel time to less than 30 minutes.

It has excellent connectivity to Pune Airport which is located at a distance of 18 km with the Maharashtra Government planning to set up a new airport near Chakan.

Pune-Lonavala suburban local trains run through this area. The nearest railway station for this area is Chinchwad Railway Station.

Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PCMT) operates the public transport system in this area.

The Maharashtra government has proposed metro connectivity to Chinchwad under the Pune Metro project. A Rainbow BRTS system is also under expansion in this area.

Factors for growth in the past

Proximity to Pune International Airport, connectivity to other parts of the city along with major Tech park such as Pune IT Park, Radius Tech Park and Commerzone IT Park have been a plus point for Chinchwad, driving rental demand and providing consistent rental yield.
