Overview

Panvel, located in the eastern side of Navi Mumbai is a well planned and developed locality maintained By CIDCO. CIDCO is the planning as well as local body of Navi Mumbai area. Panvel, which is around 34.8 kms away from Mumbai via Bangalore-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway. It also adjoins Navi Mumbai and Thane district. Panvel’s residential real estate market witnessed a life time high, after the announcement of the international airport in Navi Mumbai, in 2010. Infrastructure has also improved considerably, over time. It is well-connected to all the railway nodes of Mumbai. It is close to the proposed Navi Mumbai International Airport and MIDC areas such as Taloja, Rasayani, Patalganga, Roha and Khopoli.Panvel has all essential infrastructure, including schools, colleges, training centres and excellent road and rail connectivity. There are proposals to build an IT and educational hub, in the area. Apart from the two national highways that pass through Panvel, it also is directly accessible through the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. It also has easy access to Sion-Panvel Highway and Thane-Pune Highway that makes travelling from Panvel a much easier task. Kamothe, Kalamboli, Khandeshwar, Dapoli, Chipale, Akurli and, Old Panvel are its neighbouring localities.

 

Connectivity

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 42 km via Bangalore-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway.

Panvel Suburban, Kharghar, Nerul, Vashi are its nearby railway station. However, Thane Station is the major railway station which is located at a distance of 37 km via Bengaluru-Mumbai Highway.

Panvel is surrounded by major road networks like JNPT Road, Uran-Panvel Road, NH 48, AH 47, Mumbai Highway, Mumbai-Goa Highway. NH 48 is passing very close to the locality.

 

Proposed/Planned Infrastructure

A special economic zone (SEZ) at JNPT (Nhava Sheva), a port, Panvel International Airport, The Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link and Panvel-Uran rail connectivity will improve commuting.

The rapid development of the SEZ and other projects, is also bound to create numerous employment opportunities.

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), has also prepared an interim development plan for the pilot project of 23 villages in Panvel tehsil for future development.
 

Factors for Future Growth

With improved train frequency from Panvel to CST, widening of the Sion-Panvel highway and the metro being planned in Kharghar, one can expect lot of development in Panvel in the next few years.

Future projects like the upcoming international airport, the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link and the Panvel-Uran rail connectivity, will improve commuting.

The proposed MTHL (Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link), railway lines and the Navi Mumbai metro line from Panvel to Vashi, will give a further push to Panvel’s growth.
