Overview

Kandivali West, situated in the north of Mumbai is a well developed locality. It is situated at the junction of Mahatma Gandhi Road and Link Road. There are several major localities situated in this stretch and offers great connectivity to major business destination like Goregaon, Bandra-Kurla Complex, and Andheri. The area lies 22 km from Mumbai via Western Express Highway, 42.5 km from Navi Mumbai via Bangalore-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Highway, and 30.3 km from Thane via NH48 and Western Express Highway. It houses many well known localities like Charkop Gaon, Gorai, Marve, Malad West, Borivali, Borivali West etc. which have seen huge development in the past few years. Kandivali is situated at a distance of 7.1 km from Borivali, and 30.5 km from Gorai.

Connectivity

The locality is well connected through the Andheri-Malad Link Road, Mulund-Goregaon Link Road, and the Western Express Highway.

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a driving distance of 16.7 km via Aarey Road.

Borivali, Kandivali, Malad, Goregaon are the nearby railway stations to Kandivali West. However, Kandivali Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Kandivali West which is located at a distance of 1.6 km via Shantilal Modi Road and S V Road. It is a busy station on the Western Line of the Mumbai suburban railway.

Boisar Bus Depot is one of the oldest BEST bus depot is located on S.V. Road in the western part of the neighbourhood.

Proposed & Planned Infra

Two lines of Mumbai Metro(Line 2 and Line 7) will pass through the neighbourhood once operational. Line 2 will pass through Link Road on the western part and Line 7 will pass through the main arterial Western Urban road on the eastern side of the neighbourhood.

Line 7, once operational will be fully elevated and will run from Dahisar (East) to Andheri (East). Bandongri and Mahindra & Mahindra will be the two halts in Kandivali for the metro.

Factors for future growth

The ongoing Metro construction work in Kandivali will connect Dahisar to DN Nagar (Metro line 2A). This will led to the demand of rental markets in the locality.

The construction of the Mumbai coastal road is likely to start in a month. This eight-lane road with two dedicated bus lanes aims to provide a new link between the island city and the western suburbs. This coastal road will reduce the congestion on the Western Express Highway and give a faster and smoother ride to Mumbaikars.

Coastal road, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Mulund Goregaon link road, Colaba-Seepz, Dahisar to DN Nagar and Dahisar east to Andheri metro corridors and elevated roads are some of the major projects the government has undertaken to improve the east-west connectivity.
