Overview

Ghansoli, Ghansoli is a locality in the north-western part of Navi Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. Though primarily a rural area, it is now growing into a more advanced and commercially active locality. Ghansoli shares its boundaries with major localities like Mahape, Rabale, Vashi, Airoli, Mulund East, Kanjurmarg East, Shilphata, Koparkhairane, and MIDC trial Area. Popular localities in Ghansoli include Nagar, Jijamata Nagar, Maheshwar Nagar, Talavali Gaon and Savoli. The eastern part of Ghansoli is more developed and houses many important companies like liance, Siemens and Standard Alkali whereas the western part is largely covered by mangrove forests. Ghansoli is a railway station on the Harbour line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It is located on Thane–Belapur road in Sector-2 of Ghansoli node. Residents of Ghansoli node, the only developing node under NMMC jurisdiction which was transferred from Cidco to civic body in December 2016.
 

Connectivity

Ghansoli offers good road and rail connectivity with other parts of the city. Major roads in its vicinity include Central Road and Road which connect it to Palm Beach Road and the Pawne Flyover. BEST buses are available from Ghansoli to Vashi, Chembur, Sion, Dadar and Worli.

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 22 km via Mulund-Airoli Road, can be reached less than an hour without traffic.

The locality is also served by local trains and trains from Thane to Vashi/Panvel also pass through Ghansoli. The Central Railway Station is 38.4 kilometres and can be reached within an hour via the Eastern Freeway/Mumbai Highway/Bangalore-Mumbai Highway. Kanjurmarg, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar are the three nearby railway station to Ghansoli. However, Kanjurmarg is the nearest railway station which is located at a distance of 13.9 km via Mulund-Airoli Road.

Locality is surrounded by major roads such as Ghansoli Flyover, Central Road North, MIDC Road, and Thane-Belapur Road which further connect Ghansoli to AH 47 and NH 48 via Shilphata-Mahape Road. Other arterial road are Prabhakar Krishanati Patil Marg, Gagangiri Maharaj Marg, and Talvali Road.

Proposed/Planned Infrastructure

The much-awaited night shelter project at Ghansoli has just begun. This will accommodate as many as 100 people in the G+3 building. Another shelter home has been proposed in Koparkhairane node which is yet to get administrative approval.

The civic body is also planning to start the construction work of much-awaited Urban Health Centre at Ghansoli. Cidco has transferred a plot measuring 448 sq m in sector 4 which will have a ground plus three-storied structure to accommodate various facilities including laboratory, waiting lobby, chemist, conference hall.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has planned to especially develop cities of Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivali and Virar areas under Extended Mumbai Urban Infrastructure Project. This includes construction include construction of three creek bridges, two Rail Over Bridge (ROB), nine flyovers and widening and development of 131.50-kilometer-long road.

Factors for future growth

Residents of Ghansoli node can look forward to better infrastructure and civic amenities in the next few months as the civic body is planning for the development work for the entire node. The nodes to be developed include sectors 1 to 9 and 21. Road repairs will be carried out in sectors 15 to 22. The development work will also include construction of a sewage treatment plant, laying and repairing of roads, installing road furniture, developing footpaths, constructing of rainwater channels, laying of utility ducts, water and sewerage lines. It will give boost to the residential demand in the locality and at the same time rental yield.

In view of the increasing traffic on this road, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) had asked the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to develop a flyover at the Ghansoli-Talavali stretch, another at Savita Chemical junction and an underpass at Mahape junction.  Around 90% of the work has been completed. The rest will be completed within a month. Once operational will definitely decrease the traffic in the locality.

The stretch between Belapur and Kopri Gaon (12 km) and the one between Ghansoli and Airoli (4 km) have been completed by the CIDCO.

Infrastructural development (Social & Physical)

ASP Public School, N.M.M.C School No 42, Angel’s English School, Gajanan Charitable Sanstha, St. Jude School, Aarose International School, Vandees Nursery Play School, Manya Tilak College of Engineering, Gandhi College of Management Studies and Datta Meghe College of Engineering are some of the prominent schools and educational Institutions in the locality.

Some popular shopping centres in Ghansoli are Siddhivinayak Shopping Complex, Saibaba Shopping Plaza, Shah Shopping Center, Fair Price Shopping Center, Shoe Factory outlet Mahape, and Indraprastha Shopping Complex are situated nearby Ghansoli.

Some of the renowned hospitals providing healthcare facilities to the residents of Ghansoli are Divine Hospital, Sai Snehdeep Hospital, Mathadi Hospital Trust, Mahavir Hospital, Dr. Ajayan’s Multispeciality Hospital to name a few.
