Overview

Alandi Road is a major road situated in the north of Pune. The locality comes under Pimpri Metropolitan Regional Development Area (PMRDA) limits. It is a developing region that connects to Bidkar Vada towards the northern end and Yerawada down south. It is located very close to the industrial zones and IT Parks of Pune. It is 18.7 km away from Pune city while and 11.2 km from Pimpri-Chinchwad. Mumbai is situated at a distance of 142 km from Alandi Road. The Government of Maharashtra has setup Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) which is the Planning and Development Authority for the Pune Metro area. The entire neighbourhood of Vishrantwadi lies along the Alandi Road. Charholi Road is located approximately 3.8 km from Alandi road. Other prominent areas situated close to Alandi Road are Alandi, Charholi Budruk, Moshi, Chikhali, Bhosari, Chimbali, Kasarwadi, Pimple Gurav, Pimple Saudagar etc. Bhosari-Alandi Road, Alankapuram Road, and Charholi Road which intersect the Alandi Road and connect with Pune-Nashik Highway (NH 60). Alandi is one of the most well known places of pilgrimage for Hindu Marathi people for being the Samadhi of the 8th century Marathi Bhakti saint, Sant Dnyaneshwar. This road also passes through the famous Indrayani River. Some of the premier residential projects in Alandi Road includes Arihant Kate Estate, R K Lunkad Alankapuram II, Ravi Kiran Phase 1, RKL Anand Tarang, Sai Tirupati Greens, Spring Valley, Vision Vishweshwar Nagar among others.

Connectivity

Alandi has excellent connectivity to other parts of the city via roadways and railways. PMPML operational buses connect Alandi to the other important places like Charholi Budruk, Moshi, Chikhali, Bhosari, Chimbali, Kasarwadi, Pimple Gurav etc.

Alandi Road connects to Pune-Nashik Highway via Dehu Alandi Road and Bhosari Alandi Road, connecting the locality to the likes of Dehu, Moshi and Bhosari.

It enjoys excellent connectivity to Pune International Airport which is situated at a distance of 15.4 km via Charholi Road.

Akurdi, Chinchwad, Pimpri, Kasarwadi are its nearby railway stations. However, Chinchwad is the nearest and major railway station to Alandi, situated at a distance of 15.5 km via Spine Road.
The area has an extensive bus service and the Pimpri and Chinchwad Bus Stand and the Bhosari Bus Stand lie in close vicinity.

Factors for past growth

Alandi now has a few big IT parks and industrial areas. This accessibility makes it a preferred residential area for working professionals. Some of these offices include Tata Communications (VSNL), Commerzone and Talwade. The key industrial areas around are MIDC-Bhosari, PCMC and Markal. As a result, there has been a surge in the demand for residential apartments in Alandi Road.

Factors for future growth

Transit-oriented development has been proposed along the ring road around Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The areas which the ring road will pass through are Charholi, Tulapur, Alandi. Obviously, all these areas will see huge development & growth in the year to come.

The locality has planned to develop the 15 km long Dehu- Road which will be widened in two phases. The 8.25 km stretch from Dehu Village to Moshi-Jadhavwadi border will be constructed first while the 6.8 km stretch from Moshi-Jadhavwadi border to Alandi village will be developed in the second phase.
