Waghbil, Thane

Overview

Waghbil, located in the northern parts of Thane. Earlier, it was a village and outside the Thane limits but now the locality has added under Thane. It comes under Thane Municipal Corporation now. It is nearly 6 km from Thane Railway Station and nearly 2 kms from Ghodbunder Road Highway (NH42). This village is protected by Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Thane Creek, and Aagri Samaj. Hiranandani Estate is one of the adjacent localities to Waghbil, located at a distance of 2.7 km. Suraj Water Park, the only water park in Thane, is situated on Waghbil Naka. Vijay Nagri, Vasant Leela, and Vijay Nagri Annex are the famous residential complexes situated here. Kasarvadavali, Anand Nagar, Koliwada, Hiranandani Estate, Thane West, Kolshet, Patlipada, Haware City are its neighbouring localities. This locality is very close to NH48 & NH42. In 2016, The Thane Municipal Corporation has set up 24000 litres capacity automated water dispensers in the city where residents can get 20 litres of pure water at Rs.7. It has close proximity to some of the prominent IT Parks of Thaane such as ThaneOne Corporate Business IT Park, Ashar IT Park, Odyssey IT Park, and Raheja IT Park.

Connectivity

Waghbil Road is the only arterial road passing through the locality which further links it with NH48.

It has close proximity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 36.4 km via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai - Agra National Highway, can be accessed in less than an hour.

Kharbav, Bhiwandi Road, Kalva, Thane etc are its nearby railway station. However, Thane Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Waghbil, located at a distance of 13 km via NH48.

TMT and BEST buses ply through the locality and connect Waghbil to Mumbai and Thane.

Factors for growth in the past

Ghodbunder Road has developed into a suburb with sprawling flyovers, steady highways, widen roads and commercial developments, hence favoring Waghbil significantly.

Its proximity to International Airport along with major IT Parks such as Thane One Corporate Business IT Park, Ashar IT Park, Odyssey IT Park, and Raheja IT Park have been a plus point for Waghbil, driving residential demand and development in the locality and at the same time rental demand too.

Proposed and Planned Infra

The TMC had proposed the tender for two foot overbridges at Brahmand and Waghbil.

Under-construction Metro 4 line (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali) on the Ghodbunder Road.
