Overview

Vashi, situated in the northern part is one of the oldest and most populated nodes of Navi Mumbai. The locality is situated close to the sea. The Western Ghats run parallel to the east of Vashi, thus heavy rains in the monsoon season. It comes under CIDCO (Planning & Development Body). It offers to its residents state-of-the-art residential & commercial complexes and well developed and maintained infrastructure. This well-planned development has aided in its growth and increase in groups of investors and consumers. The It Hubs of Vashi lies in sector-30. It is among the most developed areas no just in Navi Mumbai, but the whole MMR. It is bordered by the nodes of Sanpada, Turbhe and Kopar Khairane from three sides and the Thane Creek on the fourth. The main contributor towards its basic developments was the road and the railway bridges across the creek, which connects it to the areas of Mankhurd, Chembur and Ghatkopar in Mumbai. Vashi, along with CBD Belapur, is among the largest business districts in Navi Mumbai and is home to many commercial establishments, from small business to IT Firms. The locality of Vashi is now considered as the IT Hubs of Navi Mumbai with presence of Haware Infotech Park and International Infotech Park. The Industrial areas of Turbhe, Koparkhairane, Pawane, Mahape, Taloja and the IT hub of Airoli are all easily reachable from here. It is located at a distance of 8 km from Navi Mumbai via Bengaluru-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway. Koparkhairane, Mahape, Turbhe, Sanpada, Juinagar, Kharghar, Taloja are its neighbouring localities.

Connectivity

Vashi and Airoli are the two nodes directly connected to Mumbai. All the major arterial roads of Navi Mumbai such as Palm Beach Road, Sion-Panvel Highway, and Thane-Belapur Road pass through this node. The Thane-Belapur Road falls at a distance of hardly 3 km via the Palm Beach Road.

Each of these roads are well-served by BEST and NMMT buses, connecting this node to various localities of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, and Panvel.

Vashi is well connected to the Central suburbs such as Ghatkopar and Vikhroli via the Sion-Panvel Express Highway which start from within the locality.

It lies on both the Mankhurd-Panvel as well as the Thane-Vashi Corridors of the Harbour Line of Mumbai’s Suburban Railway.

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 23 km via Santacruz-Chembur Link Road and Bengaluru-Mumbai Highway/Mumbai Highway.

Turbhe, Sanpada, Vashi, Juinagar are its nearby railway stations. However, Vashi Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Vashi which is located at a distance of 2 km via Juhu Road.

Factors for growth in the future

Planned Vashi Bus Depot to turn integrated terminus cum commercial complex. The integrated complex will help residents of the node to board the bus from the new terminus instead of travelling all the way to the main terminus near Chatrapati Shivaji chowk.

The Navi Mumbai Metro system is being constructed at present, and its development is being overseen by CIDCO. Apart from that, CIDCO is also overseeing the construction of Navi Mumbai International Airport, with a direct metro line from Khandeshwar to the airport terminals.

The locality has a good number of educational institutions like international schools, schools affiliated to all the different boards and colleges. Some of the schools present here are Nr. St. Lawrence School, ICL School, Fr. Angel Multipurpose School, Anjuman -E-Islam English School, Sunshine School, St. Lawrence High School, IES Navi Mumbai High School among few.

The locality has a good retail market with malls, shopping plazas, shopping complexes, retail outlets, stationery shops, and grocery outlets. The shopping malls in the locality include Inorbit Mall Vashi, Raghuleela Mall, Seawoods Grand Central Mall, R City Mall to name a few.

Healthcare facilities are also good in the locality as it houses some of the super specialty, multi-specialty and general hospitals.
