However, Velachery is the nearest railway station to Thoraipakkam which is about 8.7 km from Thoraipakkam. Chennai Central Railway station is just 20 km away from Thoraipakkam via Old Mahabalipuram Road/Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway.

The Alandur Metro Station and the St Thomas Mount Metro Station are also close to the area.
