Overview

Thane West, Located in the north-eastern parts of Mumbai City. Patlipada, Kolshet, Manorama Nagar, Kolshet Industrial Area, Manpada, Dhokali Naka, Ganesh Bawadi, Raheja Complex are its neighboring locality while Bhiwadi, Dombivli, Mulund East, Kandivali West, Mira Bhayandar are its neighboring cities. Brahmand Patlipada Link Road, Akbar Camp Road, Kolshet Road are arterial roads to Thane West which further connects with the NH 48. Thane is Just 4.5 km from Thane West via Ghodbunder Road. NH 48 is just 1.5 km away from Thane West via Mahatma Phule Marg and Brahmand Road. It is a metropolitan city coincides entirely with Thane Taluka, one of the seven talukas of the Thane District. The locality has easy access with Eastern Express Highway. Thane is one of the 20 cities across the world, where the rich are currently looking forward to invest their wealth due to its superior infrastructure and overall connectivity.

Connectivity

Thane West enjoys superb connectivity to Navi Mumbai as well as to the Eastern and Western Suburbs of Mumbai via Ghodbunder Road, JVLR, SCLR, Eastern Freeway, NH48, Mumbai-Nashik Highway and the Thane-Belapur Road. Besides, the Central Harbour Rail Line, Thane-Panvel Rail Line and Central Railways connect Thane to Mumbai's railway network.

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 19.9 km via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai-Agra National Highway.

Thane, Mulund, Nahur are nearby railway station to Thane West. However, Thane is the nearest Railway Station which is located at a distance of 11 km via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai Agra National Highway.

Proposed/Planned Infrastructure

An elevated deck, a food court, citizens’ facilitation centre and an elevated road are some of the features of Station Area Traffic Improvement Project 2 (SATIS) which will be taken up by the Thane Municipal Corporation.

Recently, the railways gave its approval for construction of a deck — this has given a boost to the project, which aims at unclogging the east side of Thane.

The railway authorities gave a no-objection certificate for construction of a 2.23-kilometre elevated road which will connect to the deck. The elevated road will start from the gurdwara along the Eastern Express Highway, connect to the SATIS deck and extend till Kanhaiya Nagar. The road will be a three-lane one up to the SATIS deck and a two-lane from the deck to Kanhaiya Nagar.

Factors for Future Growth

After SATIS 2 is ready, around 800 buses can use the elevated road, thus decongesting the area below.

The Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) costing Rs 35.5 crore was completed in 2010. There is an elevated deck for TMT buses, two skywalks connecting the north and south of the station and foot overbridges connecting the station. This will ensure that commuters can directly enter or exit the railway station and reach the bus stop.

The construction of three metro corridors from Wadala-Ghatkopar to Thane-Kasarvadavali Metro 4 will begin this year out of nine. Once operational, the price of property market in this locality will make a new high again and will give strength to rental yield.

Many information technology (IT) companies such as ThaneOne Corporate, Ashar IT Park , Amfotech IT Park, and Odyssey IT Park have also shifted their offices to Thane West that is turning the city into a service and tech hub.
