Sembakkam is a residential locality situated in the southern parts of Chennai. It comes under the jurisdiction of Greater Chennai Corporation. The locality is situated between Tambaram and Medavakkam and belongs to Tambaram Taluk Region. It falls under the Chennai Metropolitan Area. The village panchayat of Sembakkam was added to Town Panchayat along with the suburbs of Rajakilpakkam and Gowrivakkamin 1984 and later in 2013 as a municipality. Soon it is going to be Chennai Tambaram Corporation as a proposal was made to T N Government. It is located on the Velachery Main Road which has been home to multiple schools and colleges as well as retail outlets of several well known national and international brands. Meenambakkam Metro Station and St. Thomas Mount Metro are the two nearby metro stations of Chennai Metro.
