Old Madras Road (a 7 km stretch) is located in north-eastern parts of Bangalore and is also popularly known as Old Byappanahalli. It is located in Krishnarajapuram and one of the zones of BBMP. Old Madras Road is also part of NH4 which connects Mumbai and Chennai. The locality has a mixture of both commercial and residential areas. Earlier it was a industrial area which had industries like NGEF and Tin Factory, later these properties were demolished and made way for residential and commercial projects. The cable bridge on the junction of Old Madras Road and Outer Ring Road was declared as the most outstanding National Bridge by the Indian Institution of Bridge Engineers. It is located 15 km from Bangalore City Railway Station. The Outer Ring Road is road connects all major highways around the city - Tumkur Road (NH 4), Bellary Road (NH7), Old Madras Road (NH 4), Hosur Road (NH 7), Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road (NH 209), Mysore Road (SH-17) and Magadi Road. Hebbal(NH7), Banaswadi, Krishnarajapuram(NH4), Marathahalli, HSR Layout, Madiwala(NH7), BTM Layout, JP Nagar, Banashankari, Kengeri, Bangalore University, Nagarbhavi, Nandini Layout, Kengeri Upanagara and Gokula are the major neighborhoods and suburbs.
