Overview
New Airport Road, located in the north-eastern of the Pune is an upcoming localities. It comes under the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits. The locality is very close to Viman Nagar. Tingre Nagar, Vidyanagar, Akash Nagar, Veer Basti, Mohanwadi, Ramwadi, Khulewadi, Adarsh Colony are its neighboring areas. In May, 2016, the Airport authorities have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to construct new roads that would divert the traffic and widen the existing roads to the airport from Viman Nagar and Weikfield. Other prominent localities situated close to it are Viman Nagar, Lohegaon, Dhanori, Vishrantwadi, Khese Park, Yerwada, Kharadi etc. It has close proximity to Pune International Airport which is about 9.6 km via Lohegaon Road. Pune city is about 9.4 km while Mumbai is about 154 km via Bangalore-Mumbai Highway (NH 48). Key residential projects in New Airport Road are Ganga New Town, Venkatesh Graffiti Phase II, Godrej Infinity, Purva Silver Sands, PGD Pinnacle, Krishna Aeropolis among others.

Connectivity
It has good access to other parts of the Pune city via rail and road. PMPML Bus service is active in the locality which passes through the localities of Vishrantwadi, Lohegaon and Old Pune Airport areas. New Airport Road which has its direct access to Pune Nagar Road/Samrat Ashok Road further connects with Old Airport Road.

It has excellent connectivity to Pune International Airport which is located at a driving distance of 8.3 kms via Patil Vasti Road and Lohegaon Road.

Dapodi (12.3 kms), Khadki (11.4 kms), Shivajinagar (8.9 kms) and Pune Jn railway station (6.9 kms) are located nearby. However, Pune Junction is the nearest railway station to New Airport Road.

Factors for Past Growth
In November’ 2016, the defence ministry has approved the construction of another road leading to the Lohegaon airport, paving the path to ease congestion on the approach path to the terminal which will create the demand of commercial and residential development near the road.

Proximity to Pune International Airport along with major IT Parks such as Pune IT Parks and Commerzone IT Parks have been a plus point for New Airport Road. A fair number of workforce work in nearby IT Hubs, wanted to have their residences close to their workplace. As a result, huge properties for sale in New Airport Road has been experienced.

There is a need to undertake development of new roads in the area around the airport for the convenience of the passengers coming and going from the Lohegaon Airport to other parts of the city.
