Overview

Mulund East, located between Thane and Navi Mumbai, Mulund is a suburban locality of north-eastern Mumbai. It is divided into two parts Mulund west and Mulund east. Located between Thane and Navi Mumbai, Mulund enjoys a strategic location. Naupada, Kalwa, Thane East, Shree Nagar, Mulund West, Bhandup West, Kanjurmarg East, Ghansoli, Airoli, Powai, Mumbra etc are its neighbouring localities.  It has a railway station on the Central Railway line of the Mumbai Suburban Railway. It is nestled alongside the foothills of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park with easy access to the Eastern Express Highway and Navi Mumbai through the Mulund-Airoli Bridge. Mulund East is well connected to other suburbs and other cities as well by adequate network of trains, BEST buses and roads including a national highway.

Connectivity

The locality is well-linked to various developed areas of Maharashtra and a number of hotels, schools, banks and hospitals via an excellent network of railways and roadways. The locality is located close to the two prominent areas of Maharashtra i.e., Navi Mumbai and Thane.

The Airoli-Mulund Road, Eastern Express Highway and Lal Bahadur Shastri Road connect Mulund to various parts of Maharashtra.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is located at a distance of 18.3 kms from Mulund East via Jogeshwari - Vikhroli Link Road and Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai-Agra National Highway.

The Central railway station is located at a distance of 34.8 kms from Mulund East via Eastern Freeway and Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai-Agra National Highway. It is a stop for slow local trains as well as most fast local trains on the Central line of the Mumbai suburban network.

SEEPZ is situated at a distance of 15 kms from Mulund East via Jogeshwari - Vikhroli Link Road and Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai - Agra National Highway, Bandra-Kurla Complex is just a 19.6 kms away from the locality while Powai Industrial Belt is situated at a distance of 10 kms via Eastern Express Highway/Mumbai-Agra National Highway.

Proposed & Planned Infra

Plans for the development of Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) have been made by the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) which will link Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) and the stretch connecting Aarey Colony to Powai, Mulund and Vikhroli.

Coastal road, Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, Mulund Goregaon link road, Colaba-Seepz, Dahisar to DN Nagar and Dahisar east to Andheri metro corridors and elevated roads are some of the major projects the government has undertaken to improve the east-west connectivity.
