Mira Road is a suburb of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region situated in the northern portion of the Salsette Island and in the northern part of the Konkan region in the state of Maharashtra. Officially, it is part of the Thane district and lies within the jurisdiction of the Mira-Bhayandar city. It is governed by the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation. It is known to be rapidly developing since it offers easy connectivity to Mumbai, Thane, and Navi Mumbai and is today known as one of the fastest-growing areas of the city. Navigation, Borivali West, Dahisar East, Borivali, Uttan, Naigaon East, Navghar, Naigaon, Kasarvadavali, Thane West, Thane, Mulund West, Mulund East, and Kalwa are its localities. It is an attractive budget housing destination in Mumbai. This rapidly developing locality is situated at a distance of 43.6 km from Mumbai and is administered by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC). Mira Road and Bhayander started developing rapidly into residential hubs mainly because of the manufacturing industries close by as well as the easy connectivity to Mumbai. Most of the development has been on the eastern side of the railway line while the western side is covered by mangroves and salt pans. The western part of the city is completely made up of barren lands, where salt pans were situated in the past. In the north lies Vasai Creek, to the east Sanjay Gandhi National Park and the Uttan Coast, to the west.
