Maheshtala, Kolkata

Mahestala is a small suburb which comes under the South 24 Parganas district. It lies in the parliamentary constituency    of Diamond Harbour. Four wards of the city municipal corporation, i.e, Maheshtala, Thakurpukur, Metiaburuz and Behala have Mahestala under their constituents.

A mini township has been planned with the joint venture between Maheshtala Municipality and a London based company which will be named as Mahestala project. A land of 21.22 acres has been acquired near Nungi station for the project. This township will have 2240 flats for middle income groups in 44 buildings. They have also plans of development of road infrastructure in near future.

As per 2001 census, this place had a total population of 389,214 with male constituting 53% and females about 47%.

Mahestala is at a distance of 20 km from Howrah Railway Terminus and 35 km from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport.
