Overview
Kothrud, located to the south-west of Pune, has witnessed rapid development in recent years. Locality has seen rapid growth in terms of real estate that made it one of the fastest developing suburbs in Asia in 1980s. The pace at which this area has developed can be confirmed by the fact that it was named in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Gokhalenagar, Deccan Gymkhana, Sadashiv Peth, Dattawadi, Karve Nagar, Warje, Bavdhan and Pashan are its neighboring localities. The first flyover of the Pune city i.e Savarkar Flyover which connects the two major arterials Karve Road and Paud Road was built in Kothrud. Connectivity
It is located just 8.6 km from the Mumbai-Pune Bypass, and has a bus depot and bus stands that satisfy the transportation needs of people living in this area.

It enjoys excellent connectivity to Pune Airport which is located at a distance of 16 km via Sangamwadi Road.Shivajinagar, Pune Junction, Khadki, Ghorpadi and Hadapsar are the nearby railway stations. However, Pune Junction is the nearest railway stations to Kothrud.

Kothrud is serviced by the PMPML Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited, and has two main bus depots - Kothrud Depot and Kothrud Stand. Buses connect it to other parts of Pune like Nigdi, Hadapsar, Railway station and Swargate.
