Overview

Kharghar, located in the East of Mumbai, is a node of Navi Mumbai. It is located on the Sion-Panvel Highway and is developed and maintained by CIDCO. It is one of the 3rd most developed nodes in Navi Mumbai apart from Vashi and Nerul. It rose as a prominent area when CIDCO started developing various parts of Navi Mumbai. It is well connected to CBD of Belapur in Navi Mumbai. Two major Highway Mumbai Highway and NH48 pass through the region, which also boast of many prominent educational institutions. This locality is primarily a residential township, houses a part of Navi Mumbai's Central Business District too. Kopar Khairane, Mahape, Dahisar, Taloja, Kamothe, New Panvel East, Sanpada, and Vashi are its neighboring localities. The area is about two hours away from Pune and about an hour from Mumbai. It also has several local trains to Mumbai. Due to the area’s development, several NRIs have started investing here.

 

Connectivity

It has excellent connectivity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport which is located at a distance of 35.7 km via Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway/Sion-Panvel Expressway.

The six-lane Mumbai-Pune Expressway, starting at Kalamboli, lies in close proximity to the area. Kharghar is also connected via the Harbour Line of Mumbai’s suburban railway network.

Kharghar is surrounded by Raintree Marg, Apeejay Road and Central Park Road which further connect to Mumbai Highway/Mumbai-Pune Highway (NH 48).

Kharghar, Belapur C.B.D., Nerul, Sanpada, Juinagar, and Vashi are its nearby railway station. However, Kharghar is the nearest railway station located at a distance of 3.4 km via Bharti Vidyapeeth-Utsav Chowk Road can be accessed less than 10 min.

Bound by two major highways, Kharghar enjoys great road connectivity and it takes just about 45 minutes to reach Mumbai CST via the eastern freeway. Transportation to the nearby cities like Pune, Nasik, Thane and Kalyan is very easy from Kharghar. AC and Non-AC bus services of NMMT offer great connectivity not only within the area but also to nearby suburbs like Vashi, Thane, Dombivli, Panvel, Dadar, Borivali and Khopoli.

BEST bus services connect Kharghar to places like Vashi, Borivali, Chembur, Sion, Dadar and Ghatkopar. Located on the harbour line of the Mumbai suburban railway system, one can easily avail seamless connectivity towards Mumbai CST and Panvel throughout the day.

Kharghar is famous as a holiday and picnic spot. The area attracts more people during monsoon for its waterfalls. Clean and wide roads add to the beauty of the area. Situated close to Mumbai, it is an excellent spot for a weekend getaway.

In its endeavour to make it one of the best locations in Navi Mumbai, CIDCO has built an 18-hole golf course opposite Central Park in Kharghar. It has a jogger’s track, food courts, fountains, botanical gardens, amphitheatre, theme parks and a conservatory.

Its proximity to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, C B D Belapur (Business Districts), Kharghar Railway Station along with major IT hubs such as I.T.Park, Global IT Park India Pvt Ltd, Sigma IT Park, and Innovative Infocom & IT Parks have been a plus points for Kharghar, driving residential demand as well as consistent rental yield.

Schools like Apeejay School, KPC English High School, Jack N Jill Pre School, Kalyani Sanskruti Sanstha and DAV International School are located in Kharghar which offer quality education.
