Kamshet, Pune

Overview
Kamshet is a residential locality situated in north-western parts of Pune city. It is located 48.7 km from district headquarters Pune and 102 km from state capital Mumbai. It is a village town situated in Maval Taluka. This locality comes under the jurisdiction of Gram Panchayat. Other prominent localities which are close to Kamshet are Talegaon Dabhade, Vadgaon, Parandwadi, Khadkale, Taje, Karunj etc. It is connected with Pune and Mumbai via road and rail. It is a beautiful place and has a number of small villages which are built in the tradition style. The locality has numerous tourist spots such as Shinde Wadi Hills, Kondeshwar Temple, pawna Lake, Bhairi Caves, Bedse Caves etc. It is also famous for paragliding experience. Kondeshwar temple is an ancient elephant temple standing upright in the middle of dense forest. It is 23 km from the twin hill stations of Khandala and Lonavala from Kamshet and is easily accessible by road and rail from Mumbai (Bombay) and Pune. Kamshet serves as a railhead for many villages (such as Bhaja, Uksan and Kamra) in the western ghats. Mumbai Pune Expressway passes through the village.

Connectivity
Kamshet railway station is located in the Western Ghats, off an ancient trade-route that once linked the west coast to the hinterland. Other nearby railway stations are Vadgaon, Kanhe, Malavli, Talegaon etc. Vadgaon Railway Station is the major railway station which is located at a distance of 10.5 km via NH 48.

Pune International Airport is located at a distance of 57 km via Mumbai-Pandharpur Road.

A regular MSRTC and PMPML buses run from Kamshet to Bhaja, Uksan and Kamra villages.

Kamshet is well-connected to other parts of city via road, rail and public transport. The old Highway is the major highway which connects this area to want Nagar, Manohar Nagar and Talegaon Dabhade
