Overview

Located in the western part of the city, Basaveshwara Nagar is one of the prominent localities in Bangalore. Named after Basavanna, a social reformer, the area is surrounded by other residential areas like Rajaji Nagar, Vijay Nagar, Kamala Nagar and Mahalakshmi Layout. Basaveshwara Nagar also has several sub-localities like Karnataka Housing Board, SBI Officers Colony, Nagapura, Shiva Nagar, Sharada Colony, Kamala Nagar Water Tank, to name a few.

Connectivity

• Basaveshwara Nagar enjoys good bus connectivity via several bus stops. Prominent ones include Kempegowda Bus Station, Sharada Colony Bus Stop, BEML Layout Bus Stop and Shankar Nag Bus Station.
• Bangalore’s city railway station is just 7km from here, while the International Airport is at a distance of nearly 37km and takes about an hour to reach via Bellary Road.

Major Challenges

Inadequate garbage disposal and lack of parking space are the two major challenges faced by the residents of Basaveshwara Nagar. Lately, complaints of parking on footpaths and increasing number of stray dogs have also come into light, which is causing trouble to the pedestrians.
